Rooted in the hope of the Resurrection, St. Anne celebrates the Order of Christian Funerals, which typically includes the Vigil, the Funeral Mass, and the Rite of Committal. Families begin by contacting the parish—often through the funeral home—so dates, clergy, and arrangements can be set. A priest, deacon, or bereavement minister meets with the family to explain Catholic funeral norms and assist in choosing Scripture readings, sacred music, liturgical ministries, and approved Christian symbols. The Vigil, usually held the evening before, offers a time for prayer, the Rosary, or a Scripture Service, with personal remembrances best shared here.

The Funeral Mass is the heart of the rite, gathering the community to commend the deceased to God’s mercy, followed by the graveside or mausoleum prayers of the Rite of Committal. Cremation is permitted, but the Church requires burial or entombment in a sacred place. St. Anne continues to pray for the deceased after the funeral and can help arrange Mass intentions and bereavement support.
